Welcome to the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary - North Georgia Extension Center! We are excited to offer seminary education closer than you think with extension centers in Georgia, Alabama, and online opportunities. North Georgia Extension Center

The North Georgia Extension Center includes the library, administrative offices for academic advisement, student services, Korean programs (undergraduate, graduate, and DMin), Leavell College (undergraduate program) and NOBTS graduate program. 

Classes meet at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church (955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068), located across the street from the library and administrative offices. NOBTS students and professors should enter JFBC through the South Entrance and park in the South parking lot. 

Degrees Offered at the North Georgia Extension Center

Graduate Degrees

  • Master of Divinity (MDiv) - the standard Master of Divinity is an 84 hour graduate degree designed to equip Christians with a wide variety of ministerial callings. A three-year cycle of graduate courses is offered at the Marietta campus.

                At the NGA Center students may pursue a MDiv with a specialization in - 

    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Biblical Language
    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Biblical Studies
    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Christian Education
    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Leadership 
    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Worship Studies 
  • Master of Arts in Christian Education (MACE) - the MACE is a 63 hour graduate degree designed to equip Christians called to serve in educational ministries of local churches, missions, and denominational agencies or other related ministries
  • Master of Arts in Worship Studies (MAWM) - the MAWM is a 53 hour graduate degree designed to prepare leaders to serve the local church in the area of worship leadership. 

Leavell College (Undergraduate Degrees)

  • Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry (BACM) - the BACM is a 126 hour undergraduate degree providing a broad foundation for ministry which will also prepare students to pursue further training at the graduate level. 
  • Associate in Christian Ministry (ACM) - the ACM is a 70 hour undergraduate degree designed to equip church leaders for ministry and also constitutes over half of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry degree. 

Delivery Systems at NGA 

Semester long courses offered during the day, evening, Saturdays, and Online. 

  • Monday courses offered between 9 a.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Thursday courses offered between 3 p.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Friday courses offered between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Saturday courses offered between 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Online courses offered for both graduate and undergraduate degrees
  • Compressed Interactive Video (CIV) courses taught to multiple campuses through real-time video and audio
  • Hybrid courses include class times that meet less frequently than the traditional class, and have an online component. Hybrid class format is offered on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.
  • Workshop Courses - one week workshops are offered on a rotating basis during the January term, Spring Break term and August term at the NGA Center
  • Weekend Courses - courses are offered in a monthly format usually through Compressed Interactive Video (CIV) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday

Library Services

Extension Center students have access to the main campus library with over 300,000 items and 1,100 active journal subscriptions. The John T. Christian Library is one of the largest theological collections in the South within a nine-state region. The North GA library houses approximately 20,000 resources including computer lab and librarian assistance.
