South Georgia Library

Collections

The holdings at the South Georgia Extension Center library are supplied to the center through the Atlanta Hub librarian, Helen Shin. We have approximately 2,000 books including commentaries, however the resources of the main campus library are also available to extension center students.

Circulation Policies

  • Faculty members – One semester
  • All others – 21 days; they may be renewed only once.
  • Reserves vary in time from “In House Only” to one week.

Virtual Library Resources

As you conduct research for your classes and academic workshops, you may find that you are expected to include journal articles as a part of your research for particular course requirements. Use the main campus library web page to find databases needed (EBSCOHost, ProQuest and other databases and more).

The GALILEO (Georgia Virtual Library) database provides access to many independent online resources. To find out passwords for these databases, please contact the library staff or stop by the North Georgia Library.

Computers, printers and a copy machine are available for student use.

How to Get Books from the John T. Christian Library

1. Set up a library account.

  • Email Library@nobts.edu  with the following information:
  • Name, NOBTS ID, address, phone number, program of study, name of extension center used for other classes
  • We will verify your enrollment and create the account.

2. Research online using www.nobts.edu

  • Go to the library’s book and media online catalog to search for books you need
  • Hints:
    • When you find an interesting book title, click on it while it is underlined. Then you will see the call letters or call number.
    • If it’s checked in, include it in your email to us: title, author, and call letters or number for each book.

3. Since people move so often these days, it helps us avoid shipping mishaps if you will also include the mailing address for the books.

4. Return your books!
