The Greer-Heard Point-Counterpoint Forum in Faith and Culture is a program of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Westside Baptist Church

Minister to Students - Part-time (20 hours/week) $200 week

Principal Function: The minister to students is responsible to the church, supervised by the senior pastor and accountable for developing a comprehensive program of student teaching and discipleship training.

Job Description for Part-time Minister to Students

 1. Promote spiritual growth and Christ-likeness among the youth

2. Plan and implement a strategy to reach the unsaved youth in the area

3. Oversee all the youth programs and ministries

4. Coordinate and administer Sunday School and Wednesday night teaching times

5. Meet regularly with the Student Booster Club and coordinate youth activities

6. Have a set time of availability to the youth for personal counseling and encouragement

7. Plan and implement fun activities for the youth

Compensation: $10.83 /hour for an average of 20 hours a week = $433 every pay period

Minister of Music/Worship – Part-time (15 hours/week) $200 week

1. Plan the music portion of the Sunday morning worship.

2. Schedule necessary practices to insure the praise team performs with excellence

3. Monitor performance of praise team members to ensure praise team guidelines are being met and appropriate level of preparation and commitment is being provided.

4. Provide coverage and scheduling for any special events or services such as Christmas or Easter

5. Recruit and work with vocal praise team members

6. Work closely with the pastor on song selection

7. Implement the dress guidelines set by the pastor and deacons

8. Have an ongoing discipleship relationship with praise team that helps prepare them spiritually for their Sunday morning responsibilities.

South Gwinnett Baptist Church in Loganville Georgia seeks a bi-vocational Youth Minister to develop and lead a youth ministry in a small but diverse congregation. The candidate will be asked to preach to the overall congregation from time to time and may also be asked to provide assistance with children’s ministries for special events such as VBS, school supply giveaways, etc. 

The candidate must be spiritually mature, committed to the historic Christian faith, and enthusiastic about serving a diverse community. The candidate will be expected to work an average of 15 hours a week and must pass a background check.

West Bank Baptist Church-Help Plant a Church while in Seminary

 Ryan Melson is a current NOBTS student and a church planter with Send Network working to plant West Bank Baptist Church in the Marrero community of greater New Orleans.

They are starting to grow slowly and are prayerfully looking at filling three positions with their plant, including a paid position of children's ministry director.

2015-2016 Collegiate Ministry Internships

Term of Service
All intern positions are nine months in length, usually beginning August 1 and ending in early May.  The intern and supervisor, taking into account the intern’s calendar and the calendar of the college or university, negotiate specific beginning and ending dates.Financial Conditions:

  • Housing is provided in each setting and varies from setting to setting.  All housing is provided as a part of the intern’s package since most interns assist in the supervision of the Baptist Student Center. 
  • Internship stipends are paid to each intern based on his/her current academic status.  College graduates - $8,000 per nine-month academic year; Seminary students - $8,500 per nine-month academic year; Seminary graduates - $9,000 per nine-month academic year
  • The Collegiate Ministry Department furnishes travel expenses and travel accident insurance to all statewide BCM activities. 
  • Funds will be provided to each intern to continue his/her current medical insurance coverage.  Reimbursement amounts per nine months – up to:  $1,500 (single), $2,000 (married), and $2,500 (family).
  • A contribution will be made to the intern’s moving expenses to Georgia and back to seminary if the intern is returning there.

Job Purpose:

To mobilize and equip volunteers at Austell Baptist Church to conduct effective local

mission and outreach among the unsaved / unchurched. The focus of this work would

be on reaching young families and children and effectively integrating them into the

existing church community.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

1. To lead by example in developing a missionary presence in the community

2. To help train those interested in reaching the lost

3. To assist the church in developing media communications strategies that

represent the church well to the lost

4. To oversee the development of Bible studies geared toward reaching the lost

5. To work with volunteers in the area of children’s ministry to make sure that the

church provides adequate services to visitors with young children

6. To work with volunteers in the area of children’s ministry to assess what can be

done to expand outreach to children

Job Requirements:

1. A proven track record in building relationships with lost people

2. Broad knowledge and experience in principles of cross-cultural

ministry including navigating a multicultural environment

3. The ability to teach and train volunteers

Spiritual Commitments:

1. A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a current testimony of

walking with Him

2. A commitment to the theological principles in The Baptist Faith and Message.

3. A willingness to join the local church

-possess aBachelor's Degree of not less than 120 semester hours from an accredited institution.

-Have a graduate degree of at least 72 semester hours in general religion, theology, religious philosopy, ethics, and the foundational wrtins from one's religious traditon.

-Endorsement by your faith group/denomination

-At least two years full-time professional ministerial/leadership experience

-Be a citizen of the U.S.

-Be at least 21 and under 42 years of age at the time of appointment

-Be able to receive a natinal security clearance.

Great Love Church – Youth Minister

Great Love Church looking for an American minister (ethnicity doesn't matter) for their youth group.

This is job description:

1. Prepare and lead the Sunday worship from 11:00~12:00 

2. After the worship and lunch together, a short group discussion (or Bible study) from12:45~1:15

     (Time could be vary)

3. If possible, one (outdoor) activity a month during weekend (half day or more)

5. Because they are good musicians, if a new leader can handle the worship team, it would be perfect.

  • Belgium - Join other NOBTS students, faculty, and staff on short term mission trips to Belgium. The vision of this partnership is to work together to share the Gospel, make disciples of all Flemish people, and plant multiplying Flemish churches. 
  • Cameroon - Learn how you can join in the partnership with Cameroon Baptist Theological Seminary through praying, teaching and many other opportunities. 
  • Lake Tahoe - Creatively and compassionately reveal the presence of God to those who live, work, and play in the resort communities surrounding Lake Tahoe through the A+ Before and After School program. Semester long ministry opportunities are available each fall and spring for college or recently graduated students.

Seminary Scholarships

Georgia Baptist Foundation offers financial assistance to all qualified Georgia Baptist students enrolled in Southern Baptist seminaries. The financial assistance is provided from funds held in trust by the Georgia Baptist Foundation. www.gbfoundation.org
BWMU of Georgia grants a limited number of scholarships each year to women residing in Georgia who are attending Baptist seminaries. To qualify for one of these scholarships, students must indicate an evidence of need, commitment to missions, academic ability, strong character, good health, personal references and acceptance by a Baptist seminary. An application form may be downloaded from the state WMU office web site, www.georgiawmu.org. The application form must be completed and returned to the WMU office by March 1.

NGA Programs

NGA English Programs

Graduate classes at the North Georgia Hub meet on Mondays as well as Tuesday nights for semester long courses. Hybrids courses meet on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays four times during the semester. Graduate students may earn a Master of Divinity, Master of Divinity with a specialization in Christian Education, Master of Arts in Christian Education, or Master of Arts in Worship Ministries. 

Leavell College classes meet on Mondays throughout the day and evening for semester long courses. Hybrid courses meet on Thursdays or Fridays four times during the semester. Students in Leavell College may obtain an Associate in Christian Ministry degree or work toward a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry degree.

Graduate Degrees

  • Master of Divinity (MDiv) - the standard Master of Divinity is an 84 hour graduate degree designed to equip Christians with a wide variety of ministerial callings. A three-year cycle of graduate courses is offered at the Marietta campus.

                At the NGA Center students may pursue a MDiv with a specialization in - 

    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Biblical Language
    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Biblical Studies
    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Christian Education
    • Master of Divinity with specialization in Worship Studies 
  • Master of Arts in Christian Education (MACE) - the MACE is a 63 hour graduate degree designed to equip Christians called to serve in educational ministries of local churches, missions, and denominational agencies or other related ministries
  • Master of Arts in Worship Studies (MAWM) - the MAWM is a 53 hour graduate degree designed to prepare leaders to serve the local church in the area of worship leadership. 

Leavell College (Undergraduate Degrees)

  • Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry (BACM) - the BACM is a 126 hour undergraduate degree providing a broad foundation for ministry which will also prepare students to pursue further training at the graduate level. 
  • Associate in Christian Ministry (ACM) - the ACM is a 70 hour undergraduate degree designed to equip church leaders for ministry and also constitutes over half of the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry degree.

Certificate Programs

The New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary Undergraduate Certificate Program was founded to respond to the needs of churches by preparing believers to serve more effectively in their church and their community. Certificate programs are accredited, available, affordable, and accessible. Click HERE for more information. 

NOBTS is offering a fully accredited Biblical Teaching Certificate Program. This program is available to all persons regardless of educational background. The purpose of this program is to provide supplemental training for ministers and local church leaders in biblical interpretation and instruction.
