Women's Ministry Program

ATTENTION ALL MINISTRY WIVES!
PLEASE READ THIS LETTER FROM DR. RHONDA H. KELLEY ABOUT OUR NEW AND REVISED MINISTRY WIFE CERTIFICATE!

Dear Friends,

It was my joy as a newly married student wife in the mid 70's to enroll in JoAnn Leavell's first class for student wives at NOBTS! That class was used by God to affirm my personal call to ministry and to prepare me for a lifetime of Christian service alongside my precious husband. Many other ministry wives have also been strengthened by our student wives program that is provided free of charge to current students. We were the first SBC seminary to offer courses for student wives and now all six of our seminaries provide some type of preparation.

NOBTS has continued to provide training for student wives every year since 1976, and we have expanded the program greatly. At present, we offer four classes each year on the main campus on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and one online course each semester. This year we are offering our required course in a 2½ day workshop for student wives during our Red Carpet Week. Our courses include the required course The Minister's Wife as well as other courses such as Personal Bible Study, Spiritual Disciplines, What Baptists Believe, The Emotional Life of a Minister's Wife, etc. The content of the courses helps prepare student wives for ministry, the fellowship with other wives strengthens each personally and the life example of godly women teachers provides biblical mentoring. Student wives can earn a Ministry Wife Certificate by taking eight classes.

Expanding the Program - NOBTS is now preparing to expand our Ministry Wife Program even more in the upcoming academic year. We will be making the Ministry Wife courses and the Ministry Wife Certificate available to ministry wives whose husbands are not current students. Alumni wives and other ministry wives serving in churches can receive this relevant training for ministry by taking online courses and attending short workshops on campus. Isn't that exciting??? Ministry wives whose husbands are not currently NOBTS students will pay the standard hourly tuition fee of $150 for Southern Baptists and $200 for non-Southern Baptists.

Online Classes - In addition to the classes offered on the New Orleans campus, Ministry Wife courses will be offered each semester online.  These courses are offered without the standard hourly tuition for NOBTS student spouses; students just need to pay the $75 an hour technology fee. Other ministry wives will pay tuition plus the technology fee for each online course.

The Minister's Wife Workshop - So please pray with us about this program and spread the word to ministry wives you know. Remember our upcoming 2½ day workshop "The Minister's Wife" that I will be teaching May 27-29 during Red Carpet Week here on campus. Please visit our Student Wives page for more information about this program -- and email me at rkelley@nobts.edu for a copy of The Minister's Wfe -- Red Carpet Week Syllabus and Schedule. It is such an exciting time to be in ministry and to provide training for others in ministry! My passion to minister to women (especially ministry wives) deepens as I see their many needs and challenges. How wonderful to grow together as we serve the Lord and minister to each other!! Please let me know if you have any questions about this Ministry Wife Program or our Women's Ministry Program. Thanks for your prayers and interest!!

Blessings,

Rhonda Kelley

WOMEN'S MINISTRY PROGRAM

New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary was the first Southern Baptist school to offer formal, specialized theological education in the area of women's ministry. Since its beginning in March 1997, this innovative program has increased in student enrollment and degree options. Its success is the result of growing interest in women's ministry, the need for pragmatic training in women's work, and increased leadership roles for women in the local church. God is preparing hundreds of women to minister to other women through their local churches.

Dr. Rhonda Kelley instructs and inspires.

Fear Not! Step Up to the Mic

"I want to express to you how much that week with you and the other ladies has impacted my life.  I learned more than I will ever be able to put into practice.   The encouragement and the networking of the ladies will prove to be invaluable.  I just wish that I would have started this when Lee and I first went into ministry.  I know that His timing is perfect and it is for now 'such a time as this.'  I pray that God would use me to make a difference for His kingdom."

Students listen and learn

Lively and helpful discussion

I have really enjoyed this course and the church growth course. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into developing these into the online delivery format. I REALLY appreciate it. It's courses like these that make it possible for me, a full-time public school teacher, to continue my education and pursue my calling (ministering to lost students and learning about God's heart). Thank you.
