Welcome to Leavell College
Leavell college is the undergraduate program of the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. As a part of NOBTS Leavell College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097; telephone number 404-679-4501) to award associate, bachelor's degrees. A Word of Welcome from the DeanGod continues to bless His work through Leavell College at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I am constantly amazed as I look around to see His mighty workings among us. This has been an exciting time to be a part of Leavell College. We are attempting to lay a foundation upon which lives and ministries can be built. Our goals at Leavell College are two-fold: to prepare our students for ministry in the present and to prepare our students for further study at the graduate level. Involved in this preparation is a continued emphasis upon one's personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We are aware that without our lives being firmly built upon Jesus, our ministries will never be effective. We are also aware that our world is in such a condition that it needs men and women who have a heart for God which results in effective ministry. This academic year begins the third full year of our new curriculum: the Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry. The degree was developed with you in mind. Our desire was to develop a curriculum that encouraged practical ministry in the present based upon a solid foundation. In addition, we desire to help prepare you for further study at the graduate level if God should lead you in that direction. Please feel to contact our office at anytime if you need additional information or help. The toll free number is 1-800-662-8701, ext. 8590 or the local number is 504-816-8590. You may also contact me personally at tstrong@nobts.edu. Be certain that I and the faculty are praying for you. We are praying that this will be the greatest year of our existence: a year in which we see God working in our lives to accomplish all that he desires. Also, we desire that through all that is done in this place that God receives all the glory of which He is worth.
