HOUSING PROCESS

Eligibility for student housing is contingent upon the fulfillment of the following two requirements:

1.  Academic acceptance to NOBTS (see below).

a. Currently Enrolled Students.  If you are currently enrolled full-time and taking courses you are eligible for campus housing.  

NOTE: Students transferring from an extension center to the main campus need to notify the appropriate admissions office in writing (Grad.:  admiss@nobts.edu; Undergrad.:  lcfacultysec@nobts.edu).   Mail to the attention of the office desired [i.e. “Graduate” or “Undergraduate”] 3939 Gentilly Blvd, New Orleans, LA, 70126).

b. Previously Enrolled Students (students who have taken a class in the last year). Previously enrolled students who are not taking classes this semester, but who are planning to take classes in the next semester must fill out a one-page, academic readmission form.  This form can be obtained by e-mailing admiss@nobts.edu (Graduate) or leavelladmissions@nobts.edu (Undergraduate).

c. New Students.  If you are a new student, you must complete the academic application process before you can apply for student housing.  An application request is available at http://www.nobts.edu/Enlistment/CatalogRequest.html

2.  Intent to take a full-time load in the Spring 2008 semester (Graduate: 9 hours; Undergraduate:  12 hours).

All housing applications will be handled on a first-come-first serve basis.  An application for housing is not active until the applicant has completed the academic admissions or readmissions process and is approved by the Registrar’s office to begin classes.  It is the responsibility of each applicant to follow up on his/her academic application and to notify the housing office once final approval is given.  Please do not submit an application until you are academically approved.

Assignments

All housing applications will be handled on a first-come-first serve basis.  An application for housing is not active until the applicant has completed the academic admissions or readmissions process and is approved by the Registrar’s office to begin classes.   Please do not submit an application until you are academically approved.  

While we do take your preferences into consideration (i.e. requested move-in date and number of bedrooms), please note that we cannot guarantee these requests.  We are committed to meeting your needs and will work toward accommodating any special requests you have made.

Our assignments are made approximately four weeks in advance of the time the student plans to arrive. We have no way of knowing earlier than this what will be available to assign.

Deposit

Confirmation fees are due at least 2 weeks prior to arrival date unless other arrangements have been made.  When you receive your housing assignment letter, it will include the date on which the fee is due in order to secure housing.

The remaining rental deposit will be due at check-in.  

        Dormitories:

              Confirmation fee:    $35.00

              Rental Deposit:       $100.00 (subject to refund)

        Apartments:

               Confirmation fee:    $60.00

                Rental Deposit:      $175.00 ($50 subject to refund)

Rent

Rent is billed on a month to month basis and is due on the first business day of each month.  The first months rent is pro-rated from the day keys are picked up.  Rent will continue until the resident has completed the check-out process and have returned all keys.
