A: For most students, 3-5 years. The course work can be completed in two or three years. The final writing phase may take a year or longer.
A: Workshops and seminars are not offered online, however a distance education option is available. All seminars including electives and mentored reading can be taken in our online video learning format called NOLA2U (synchronous learning). Some program workshops and exams must be attended in person and therefore necessitate a trip to the main NOBTS campus. Required seminars meet four days during the semester in a two-year cycle. Through NOLA2U you can attend class from your home or office using a personal computer. Participation through NOLA2U has technological requirements. Learn more here!
A: Yes. Applicants must have transcripted hours in education/teaching and basic ministerial preparation in biblical, theological, and ministry leadership classes to meet the requirements. After transcript evaluation, you may need to complete leveling course work to gain acceptance to the program. Please complete the inquiry as your first step to answer the call. A: Candidates pursuing an EdD degree who have a master's degree in education or Christian education that includes course work in teaching methods and learning theory and who have a minimum of five years teaching experience at the college level, may request exemption from Teaching in Higher Education. Please contact edd@nobts.edu for further instructions.
A: The Ed.D. features three majors: Ministry Leadership, Educational Leadership, and Teaching/Pedagogy. You may choose a major which determines the direction of your research and writing. Students will complete an Integrated Mentorship and Mentored Reading specific to their choice of major. Students may choose from a wide variety of electives that prepare them to complete the culminating writing project, the Dissertation in Professional Practice.
A: Required seminars will meet four days or evenings during the semester in a two-year cycle. Program workshops are scheduled either once or twice annually. Elective seminars will be offered different times depending on the selected seminars. A complete schedule is available on the EdD website.
