The Church Music Ministries Program offers graduate degrees in worship and church music and offers music concentrations within the Master of Divinity degree and the Master of Christian Education degree. We also offer a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree in conjunction with Leavell College here on campus.

The Doctor of Musical Arts degree specializing in Church Music is a unique research and performance doctorate designed to equip persons with knowledge, concepts, and skills that may be applied to research, teaching, performance, ministry, and denominational leadership in the field of church music. The Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Educational Ministry are professional degrees providing qualified students the opportunity to achieve a high level of excellence in the practice of ministry. Those in worship leadership positions may make application to these degree programs to further hone and enrich their knowledge and skills in worship and music in the local church.
Students who sense a call to vocational ministry in church music and worship leadership in the local church, denominational agencies and institutions, can pursue the Master of Music in Church Music degree. This degree provides a comprehensive foundation in required studies as the student prepares for their work in church music. There are concentrations in Voice, Conducting, Piano, Organ, Worship/Hymnology, Church Music Education, and Composition
Students who understand their call to vocational ministry in worship leadership can pursue the Master of Arts in Worship Ministry. This degree provides a foundation in worship studies as the student prepares for work in the local church as worship leader. There are four specialized tracks: music, preaching, education, and missions/church planting.
Students sensing a call to deepen their scriptural understanding of worship and who have earned a bachelor of music degree may seek a program of study that allows further pursuit of musical education and theological training. In collaboration with the Master of Divinity program, a Church Music track has been developed. This degree provides a comprehensive foundation in theology and church music.
Students who are sensing a call to worship ministry and have a background in church music may seek a program of study that allows them to broaden their education to include biblical studies and thus become more effective worship leaders. The MDiv in Worship Leadership has four specialized tracks: music, preaching, education, and missions/church planting.
MMCM and MDiv in Church Music graduates of these degrees can pursue a further degree in DMin or DMA.
MDiv graduates can pursue a further degree in DMin.
Leavell College of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary provides the following programs of study which are designed to help the beginning church musician and further equip those already involved in church music.
Music with an Emphasis in Worship (BAME) major was developed by Leavell College for those who desired further their musical skills in worship ministry. The major consists of 24-hours of in-depth music courses and 18-hour worship minor for those in worship leadership and are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
